The Up and Down Red Hill Mornington Peninsula Wine Tour begins with a bowl of fresh strawberries en-route to the picturesque seaside town of Pt Leo for local sparkling wine and cheese by the ocean. Afterwards we visit producers with vineyards planted in the ancient seabed loam of Moorooduc, Merricks, Balnarring and Shoreham. We later venture up the hill to higher altitude sites and the red volcanic soils of Main Ridge and Red Hill. This journey is all about the most widely-planted variety in the Mornington Peninsula, the heartbreak grape, Pinot Noir. The day poses questions about the difference climate, soil, and terrain play. We meet winemakers with different techniques and styles including whole-bunch fermented Pinot Noir grown in a variety of vineyard settings. At the day’s halfway mark, lunch is at the Merricks General Wine Store; a local restaurant where the fusion of modern flavours are welded to the complexity of the local Pinot Noir.
Tour in a luxurious Mercedes Benz, enjoy a morning feast with sparkling wine overlooking Western Port Bay, exclusive access and special wine deals.
